The Day of the Triffids (2009) a movie review.. a bit here and there.. not really that well written…

is you don’t get it there’s no hope for you…
but to begin..
O! M! G!
I mean.. there is probably some reason why one shoudn’t remake classics, but if the remake has Eddie Izzard in it, I don’t see the problem… I don’t, frankly, care if people find it bad etc.. it has Eddie Izzard in it for fuck sake.
But honestly, it’s not a remake remake, seeing as the meteor shower that made people blind and which signaled the comming of the Triffids in the 1962 movie is in this one a sunstorm. There is still a guy who’s had his eyes operated on, but this guy seems to be a doctor, specialized in Triffids (well, that’s handy). Seems this they have been on earth for ages and has come to a “symbiotic relationship” with humans. And it seems that “Triffid Oil” helped earth from global warming.
But back to the important bit. Eddie Izzard. About 10 min. or so into the moive we meet him on a plane. He was asleep through the whole sunstorm thing so he is the only one on the plane who can see. As soon as he wakes up it seems that he gets the situation and starts saving his own ass. And I love it. You know me. I love bad guys. He was somewhat badguy in “My super ex-girlfriend” but that doesn’t really count because what he did he did out of love. But is it love in this movie too, me thinks. Love for himself, love of life and wanting to survive and I fankly see nothing wrong with that.
But yeah… he does have that “I am a bad guy” look to him. Even with make-up. I think it’s the eyebrows. They are so devlish XD
But yes… Maybe a little power trippy too, but that alright. I think he might be wanting the “ruler of the world” title, but that’s alright too…
But honestly, besides Eddie and daughter Redgrave it seems they threw everything but the kitchen siink at this thing to see if anything would stick.
For an over two hour long movie it is filled with somewhat boring stuff.
I wonder if they used ome of the old BBC series as a guide thingie too. I never really payed much attention to the series becuse.. well… I like the good old movie best…
I read a, os should I said I looked briefly at a comment thing about this 2009 remake on imDb, and it saud it was shit. This person clearly don’t enjoy the brilliance that is Eddie Izzard. I guess I’m just a huge ass fan of his.
I kinda get the “28 days later” vibe from this. The only thing missing in this movie is that the people who gets killed by the Triffids stay dead and don’t come back to life, which would make it even more thrilling. XD
What I don’t get is why it’s being called horrible when clearly it’s brilliantly made.
ex. As I said Eddie is a bad guy and when he meets Major Roker (Jason Priestley), who wants to help the blind and thus puts spanners in Torrence’s (Eddie) wheels, he does what he sees fit and undermines him, takes over and convinces Jo (Redgrave daughter) to make an emergency broadcast thing on the radio. As he is talking about how pleased Roker will be about it and stuff the camera pans over and several faces of Eddie appears (two faced, double crossing… speaking with forked tongue, if you will (in case it escaped you)).
Well, I thought it was brilliant anyway..
And mother Redgrave is in it too. Not untill the second half. Yes, it’s a two parter. But if I can do it, so can you. Another thing I don’t get is why Venessa Redgrave keeps picking complex, slightly evil, whtout being evil really, charecters. She does them well, I’ll give her that, but I’d love to see her as a sweet lady, for once.
OK. There is only one thing I have to poo-poo upon in this second half.
In the first half the good doctor gets sent away by Torrence and he in turn tells Jo that he died. And, of course, she believes him. But then she realises he’s full of shit and runs away. They, the doctor and Jo, eventually meet and they are all =D, laughing and other happy stuff. And then she gives him his belongings and they dance. Like you always do.. right? Well, I do… whenever my Jan comes home from work we always dance <.<
And second half, not so fun, even thought you get the conclution to the whole thing.. They run away to the Isle of Wsomething… there they start to take out the Triffids and they all live happily ever after…
And in the second half you get less Eddie.. and you jus tknow he’s going to die because of his assholery…

All in all… I liked it.
If you’re not into the whole sci-fi thing and have no idea who Eddie Izzard is then you probably won’t like it.. lol
But I still think it’s worth a gander.

Why I’m a slacker?
Well, I start stuff.. and they just seem to get done.. lol
I’m not really a finisher… well, I am, but right now I’m kinda.. erm.. I don’t know what to do. I’m stuck!
I’m making a jacket.. and I don’t know if I should cut up the middle of the front for the zipper now or if I should wait.
*sighs*  Maybe if I put it all together and see how things look, first and foremost..
It might not look anything like I want it to look… But I got the hood, the ears and arms… and everything…

Mood: Great, as always… What can I say, I’m a happy happy person ^_^

A lot of things has gone down since I wrote last… irch.. when I write it like that it sounds bad… but rest assured that bad things don’t happen to me… But things have happened, and it’s been mundane…
So… I decided to make Potter Puppets… If you have no idea what that is check out Potter Puppet Pals, just start at the bottom and work yourself up… It’s a hoot.
So, I decided to make a Snape and a Lucius. It’s not like I’m going to sell them or make shows.. it’s just to keep myself busy and not lose my mind from not having a job to do.
So yeah… I started with an odd head shape.. elongated head/face… and wool yarn for hair.. and I just sowed by hand along the edges… attached ears and so on.. and turned them inside out. Here you can see with the wool yarn hair and the oddly shaped head with ears…
Needless to say that the dark haired one is Snape… even with nose =D
So then I started working on Lucius.
Honestly, they look like an 80’s puddle rock band… or Weird Al Yankowitch with blond follower…
They are a bit blurry… they had a few too many drinks last night…
I still have some stuff left to do on them. Lucius’ hair is too long, so I have to cut it, but I still have to attach more blond hair to his head.  A long and tedious job, but it has to be done. The man will snare me down if I don’t. Well, he will anyway, but that’s what we all love about him :3
So yeah.. I have yet to make the body and the arms. But I will get there…
Ages and ages ago I bought loads of black fabric so I could make a black cow snuggly costume for myself. It was going to be huge and just really a “thank god it’s afternoon” costume type thing.
The other day I ripped apart a one piece PJ thing I had from years and years back… yes, it still fit… but it was falling apart, which is why I decided it was time to put it to sleep. So I ripped up the stitching and measured out longer legs and stuff, a little wider around the middle… and it turns out the stupid lady in the store I bought the fabric at didn’t give me enough fabric… I said 2.5 meters, she claimed 2 meters would be enough… -_-
I wasn’t pleased… However, this illusive Panda jacket I’ve been talking about making, has black fabric.. or I have black fabric for it, and I was thinking that I could use some of that. Great idea, if you ask me… It doesn’t have to be perfect.. it’s just something I’ll be walking around in at home… snuggling…
So yeah… Now I need to make the Panda Jacket so that I know how much fabric is left for me.
The other day I also discovered a site, I was really told about it ages ago, but I’ve never really been there till a few days ago. Rifftrax. If you’re an MST3K fan you’ll know all about Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and the rest… well, they’ve gotten together and made this site, I guess, where they take just about any movie and riff it… And I do mean any movie.  If you want to check out the site I do recommend that you have a look at “Star Wars VI”… it had me in stitches… I laughed so hard I cried… and that’s been a loooong time since I’ve done that.
And in other news…
Jan was at the DMV the other day to pick up some papers on the scooter we have, and I asked him if he could ask them about the rules and stuff for me getting the licence.. if they had changed etc.
When he came home he said I just needed to hand in papers from the doctor saying I’m well; papers from an eye doctor saying I use glasses, but that I’m otherwise fine… and that’s it… send in the papers, and they send me the licence in the post… I don’t even have to take a test =D
On that note I’d like to post pictures of my beloved helmet… the one I’ll be using when I wroom around like a mad person ^_^
Yes, it has butterflies, but I can’t help but loving them.. I waited like three months or so for the person on Ebay to get it back into stock so that I could get it..  and I saved a bundle too.. hehe..
I don’t know what it is about butterflies, but lately I’ve been all “Must Have!” with them…
Which is why, basically, I have my “new” cellphone full of them… But they are cute  ^_^
Oh, that reminds me.. I have to fix some things on my cell…

Listening to: Jeff Corwin on TV… he’s a funny guy…

So yeah…
I’ve already told you in the past that I found my series. I was looking for it, found the first 10 episodes on an online streaming thing… I’ve seen the show way way way in the past on sci-fi channel… and it was a show out of the ordinary. Not very normal, which I like… and after I lost the sci-fi channel I forgot all about it…
Then before christmas I stumbled upon it… I can’t really remember how it happened, but I checked it out, kinda remembered that I might have seen it before and watched the 10 first episodes. But after that I couldn’t find any more online streaming, so I checked for downloads. And because I never learn and don’t read stuff I ended up with the 9 first episodes :/
So I put it all out of my mind… But then I stumbled upon mini episodes someplace. They are pretty much condensed episodes, all riff raff and things that doesn’t matter taken out.
And I’m not almost at 300. And the show will start being in color soon =D
I have to admit that I did watch it a little wrong, because I came upon some episodes that were further into the show than I had hoped. But I did get to learn how and why Barnabas Collins (I’ll explain later) became a vampire.

Yes, the show has ghosts, vampire, female human/phoenix’, werewolves… and that’s about it, I think… OH! and a frankenstein creature called Adam..
I don’t know how I can explain properly…. at the beginning of the first episode you get to know a young woman called Victoria Winters. She’s on a train to Collinsport to work as a governess for a young boy, David Collins; son of Roger Collins; brother of Elizabeth Collins Stoddard; mother to Carolyn Stoddard. They all live in Collinwood, a manson on the slight outskirts of Collinsport. The grand house was built in the 1790’s by Josuah Collins.
But none of this is really that important.. lol
Victoria starts working there, and as the episodes pass you have love, jealously, death threats, ghosts, crazy young boy, crazy woman killing people, murder, old murder, blackmail and after about 200 episodes you get Barnabas Collins. A vampire who has been asleep for some 200 years… give or take.. when he went to sleep he had just lost the lady he loved most of all: Josette Dupres Collins. That’s right… they were kinda family. She was married to Barnies cousin or something like that because her handmaiden had bewitched her and her future husband so that they’d get married and Barnie could marry her instead… Angelique, that is…. Yeah, turns out Angelique was a witch.
But I think there was a duel or something and someone died, and so Barnie and Josette were set to live happily ever after. But remember Barnie was married to Angelique, and she had something to say about it. She cursed him.. and he died.. and then turned into a vampire… and then he got all “Sweet, if I can turn Josette into one too, we’ll live FOREVER!” But Angelique was still a bitch and showed Josette what she would be like as an undead… and so Josette jumped to her death. And then Angelique set out to kill Barnie… but he turned the tables and killed her instead.
Let’s just say that alot of people died as a result of Barbabas becoming undead. Even his sister died, but not because he bit her. When Barnie died they thought it was the plague. So the family decided that it would be better to say he “went to England” instead. But of course they didn’t tell Barnie’s 10 year old sister who was so sure she saw him one day and went after him, ending up in the family crypt.. caught pnemonia and died.
So now that Barnie has been brought back to life, so to speak, he has set out to find his Josette again, and he frankly couldn’t care less who it is. First he tried to turn the local cafè lady into Josette, but she lost her mind. Well, he kinda hypnotised her into thinking she was Josette, then she remembered who she was, played along for a while so that she could escape, got caught, put in “jail”, lost her mind and then escaped with the help from the ghost of Barnie’s sister, Sarah. The doctor said it would be best to just let everyone know she was dead so the guy who had her wouldn’t come after her… and it worked… But then Barnie got a new love interest. Victoria. And seeing as she’s in love with the past, so to speak, she seemed a more villing victim.
And this is about where I am now…. and I snapped some really cool pictures of vampire Barbabas trying to munch the local street walker.
I don’t know what it is.. I mean… he’s not the most attractive bloke in the world. But I guess it’s the darkness in him. AND he’s a pretty good actor.

And that’s another thing I love about the show.  The show was recorded live, so to speak… If they made mistakes they couldn’t go back and redo it… and that means, at times, you see stage hands in the background. Which is hilarious when a person is locked in a sealed room, utterly alone, moaning about their aloneness and the camera pan out and you see a stagehand huddled in the corner.
And let’s not forget the lines. People forget lines, stumble and/or pronounce things wrong.  But in a way that makes things seem more real.

So yeah.. I really love the show in all its badness… But it is pretty good too…

But I won’t drone on.. I’m sure you have no interest in it… lol

Also, on the movie site, I don’t know if I said, but we had a public viewing and ripping of a movie.
I thought it was great fun, and I think the rest of the gang thought so too…
I am now trying to find another movie to watch on Sunday.
I also, the other day, saw a little of “Scanners 3″ which was… well… the acting was bad… but the blood spatter was brilliant. I’ve very rarely seen that kind of head explosion.

But now I’m off…

So yes, it’s been a very long time.
I don’t know what’s happened… well, I do… I’ve been busy… I found the series I wanted… Dark Shadows… online… It’s just mini episodes.. like someone has actually taken out all that time consuming stuff and made it into an 11 min episode.
I didn’t think the person had from the start, but I did some digging, and s/he did =D
It totally made my day when I saw it… and I’m very soon on episode 100… been busy these past few days.. XD

So anyways…
I made cookies the other day… like chocolate chip… without an electrical handwhisk… all by my own hand.. and they tasted GREAT!!!

I also got a call from someone about four days ago… I was out shopping with Camilla..
So I got an interview for a job tomorrow… It’s a job I applied for two months ago.. and I thought that ship had sailed… and it was really a job I applied for to apply for it… I didn’t expect to get that call.. lol
And I had compleetly forgotten… But when I came home I read up in it, and I remember…
It’s selling cellphones, accessories and computer accessories, I think… along those lines.. Should be fun… So now it’s just a matter of not being an ass and screwing it up for myself…

In other news…
My movie site, well, not mine.. but I feel like I belong.. lol..
I’ve aired an idea of having a public viewing of a movie… which would be great fun.. and if we got it going like mst3k it would be even more fun…
I thikn that the first time we try it we should pick a movie we all know… that doesn’t suck too much.. but which gives us enough amo to have fun with it….

Happy New Year, guys…
OK, so it hasn’t come that far just yet, but five more hours and I have a brand new year to ruin for everyone XD
Just kidding.
I don’t even hare new years resolutions. I could of course make some, but I don’t see the point… I’ll go along with it till I go “Meh, fuck this shit..” after about a month… But then there’s is always the “I’m gonna be a better person” thing… but how can you improve on perfection?

I kid… I kid because I love…
But anyways… Nothing really happening here today. I had a great dinner today. Moose steak…. I told you I was going to have moose…. Well, if the kids had been here I would have had to make something else, probably turkey, but seeing as they are busy kids they have parties to go to.. friends to hang out with…

On a side note I got my Christmas present from Ellie, the most excellent of friends… She gave me a Nintendo ds cover with a pen thingie and stuff… very good… and I got a Hello Kitty beanie… loved it… But it says on the note attached to it that it will kill me when I sleep… so I’ll be chaining it to the wall…

Annnywho…

So… the loot of this christmas was…
My Father – Loads of love and money
My mother – Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, loads of love and money
My Brother – Resident Evil – Apocalypse, Resident Evil – Degeneration, loads of love and money (and I found out alot about him that I didn’t know)
My Jan – Fridge… but we knew that ^_^ And lots of love, of course
The Kids – Shampoo/conditioner and chocolate…
Ellie -  I don’t know yet… it didn’t get here…
and from Jans parents – towels and a raclette grill… which I’m looking forward to trying… should be amazing to make cheese burgers on.
Well, basically lots of love from everyone… what can I say.. I’m fantastic ^_~

So yeah….. I had a really nice day yesterday… I ate, I drank, I ate some more and too much… and am now paying the price. I have a toilet with my name on it… But no stress… it was amazing how no stress there was.
And today we have leftovers… and maybe I’ll be able to eat more today than I did yesterday.. lol… It was delicious… but I think I snacked too much… far too much… and sadly my tumtum was full of candy… so today… a late breakfast and nothing till I eat dinner… maybe an apple if I get too crabby…

So that was my day…

Listening to: Christmas carols ^_^

Yes, it’s the day before Christmas and I’m not done yet. I have yet to get the house done. But I’ll get that done today.
I have the food for tomorrow, the tree is lovely (no pictures.. its shy), the house is clean… and my relaxation has been on full blast throughout all these pre christmas days. No stress… I love it. This is what Christmas is all about.

I made cookies too… Reindeer, hearts and dogs.
I tried to get individual pictures, but it seems that my camera has been drinking and couldn’t get a clear picture of them. So these are them…
The reason the doggie looks a little… shocked… He and his fellow puppies were dropped from a great heights by mistake and he was the only one that survived.
And the reindeer has started to lose their antlers.
But they are all good… Even though I hated the dough.. man it was pissing me off.. I was trying to roll it out, and half of it got stuck to the rolling pin.. even after I had drenched both the surface of the dough and the rolling pin in flour.
So yeah… 11 doggies, 10 reindeer and 9 hearts… some of the hearts got broken too when the puppies died…

Other than that all I can do is wish everyone a Peaceful Christmas

So yes.
I put my gingerbread house together yesterday and I decorated it today.
Sadly I had some esembly difficulties yesterday, and I don’t think it’ll be OK’d when the building people come to check it out. And it totally lacks plumbing and electricity, which actually might be a good thing…
It looked great last night when I went to bed…
And today I did good… I breat one egg white to stiff peaks (so proud) and made royal icing. Put the icing in a bag and started making really nice patterns on the house… then it went splosh and I had a huge turd like blob of icing on my roof… So I just grabbed a knife and smeared it all out.. and thenI put the chocolate buttons on it… and that’s when the roof, well, half a roof, fell off… but I put it back together again with icing, so hopefully no one will notise.
And after that I put gummi people on the side of the house… looks really good…

And now it kinda looks like santazombies are taking over the house… heh heh heh…
